The Vorticist
So, who's it for and what's it about?
Jason Maling’s live art project invited conversation with random subjects curious enough to make an appointment with the anomalous Vorticist. A complex design in the shape of a Rorschach inkblot mimics the labels of 19th century miracle medicine cures. Links are made between the offerings of quackery and a visit to The Vorticist, each requiring an investment of trust in something foreign and bemusing. Oddly grouped objects suggest the breadth of subject matter exchanged with The Vorticist, as visitors share stories as personal, frivolous or philosophical as desired.
